# FAM Upgradation from 8.1 to 8.2 and then 8.3

We are seeking clarification regarding the upgradation process from FAM version 8.1 to 8.2, considering our DC DR setup. Could you please confirm whether a failover is required after upgrading the production servers, and Is it necessary to keep the services up and running during the upgrade process from FAM 8.1 to 8.2 and further?

Additionally, should we follow the same steps on the DR server as we do on the production server during the upgrade process?&nbsp;  
Alternatively, could you please direct us to a guide that covers the upgrade process when a DR server is involved? The standard upgrade guide does not provide information about upgrading with a DR server in place.
