# Index length exceeds maximum length of 1700 bytes for non-clustered indexes

Currently, in IIQ, we have an extended identity attribute named sections.&nbsp;An index is assigned to the column as well.

\<property name=“sections” type=“string” access=“sailpoint.persistence.ExtendedPropertyAccessor” index=“spt\_identity\_sections\_ci” length=“1000”/\>

One particular user had a large value for this column. During identity refresh, it is throwing the following error:

Caused by: com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException: Operation failed. The index entry of length 1716 bytes for the index ‘spt\_identity\_sections\_ci’ exceeds the maximum length of 1700 bytes for nonclustered indexes.

Could you please let me know if you have any solution?

@reshmi_sajeesh &nbsp;We have to increase the size or have it shortened if it exceeds the Max Characters.
