Providing Exported Database information with Headers in an Excel Sheet (File Access Manager)
This article is to assist you with providing a clear export of data from the database to an excel sheet should our Support or Professional Services Department request this information.
This makes it much easier for data to be evaluated properly and potentially migrated into our internal labs. This is why this is requested specifically in this format.
Please note you will need at least READ ACCESS to your database to complete the below tasks. Additionally, please consult your internal DBA for further assistance.
Enabling The Copy with Headers Option
- Navigate to your File Access Manager (SecurityIQ) Database.
- Open Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio.
- Click Tools > Select Options.
- In the left Menu bar (inside the Options Menu popup window) click Query Results > SQL Server > Results Grid.
- Ensure the "Include column headers when copying or saving the results" option IS enabled and click OK.
Copying and Saving the Queried Data
From the results of your query…
- Click the empty box to the left of "id" and just above "1" to highlight all the results of the query. Alternatively, you can right-click > select all.
- Right Click > select Copy with Headers
- Open Excel and select the 1A Box in a new workbook.
- Right Click > select Paste.
- Expect results in the proper format.
From there, your data should be separated properly into rows and columns. As mentioned above, this makes it much easier for data to be evaluated properly and potentially migrated into our internal labs. This is why this is requested specify in this format.
