File Access Manager (formerly known as SecurityIQ) planning tools

Original content by Matt Shirilla

Use the attached Excel spreadsheet to help with your File Access Manager planning.

Event Storage: Fill in the yellow boxes to help you determine out how much storage you will need for events, based on your estimated number of events. An event is a single action, such as one user read a specific file on a specific server at a certain time. Events are counted in the millions.

Data Classification Storage: Fill in the yellow boxes to get an estimate for the amount of storage you will need for your index files.

Prep for Install: This worksheet can help you plan for the data and values you will need at install time, for your core servers. Use this worksheet in conjunction with the product documentation for your planning.

Activity Policy: This worksheet helps you correctly set your activity criteria for activity alerts, and for reporting. Typically you will select either an Application or an Activity to Monitor. Then use the values the worksheet presents, for setting your filter(s).

Nice Summary, especially the best practices part.

I wish there would have been an export/import mechanism for alerts for example, that way you could define it once, and re-use it for different installations.
