SailPoint utilizes the Contrasting Groups Method approach to set our passing scores for our certification exams. We conduct a contrasting group study by recruiting approximately 100 candidates that fall into one of these three categories: below minimally qualified, minimally qualified, and above minimally qualified. These candidates take our beta exam, and we analyze their results psychometrically. Our data analysis yields a cut score range. Our team picks a fair passing score within that range based on their data analysis and input from various Subject Matter Experts. The contrasting groups method is legally defensible and empirically evidenced, as it relies on actual candidate performance data.
