How often can I recertify through the SailPoint Recertification Program? 
The number of recertification credits is based off a 2-year period and can only be used to renew one certification exam within a 4-year timeframe. 

How long does a training course need to be in order to qualify for a continuing education credit?
Each training course must be at least 30 minutes to earn credit towards recertification. 

Who can participate in the recertification program?
Any current customer, partner, or SailPoint employee who holds a qualifying certification can participate. (Note: those who previously held a certification but no longer work for a current customer or partner of SailPoint are not eligible to participate in this program)

What certification exams qualify for recertification through the SailPoint Recertification Program? 
The following role-based certification exams qualify for recertification: 

• SailPoint Identity Security Engineer
• SailPoint Identity Security Administrator
• SailPoint IdentityIQ Engineer 
   

Does the IdentityNow Engineer certification qualify for the recertification program?
Unfortunately, this certification was retired in February, 2025 and is does not qualify for the recertification program.

Do you allow partial credits?  
Unfortunately, we cannot accept partial credit. Each training course must be at least 30 minutes to earn credit towards recertification, and credits get rounded up to the nearest whole number. Looking for more detail? Please reference the training course credit table on the SailPoint Recertification Program page for breakdown.  
 

Does any of the SailPoint free training or introductory training qualify?  
Unfortunately, we cannot accept introductory or free training as qualifying activities for the SailPoint Recertification Program. Although taking these courses is great for establishing foundational knowledge, the completion will not qualify towards recertification credit hours.   
 

My certification has already expired, does this exam still qualify for the recertification program?
If your certification has expired within the last 365 days, you can still qualify for the recertification program. If it has expired longer than 365 days ago, you will not qualify. 

How long do I have to complete the necessary credit hour requirements prior to recertification?  
All SailPoint recertification credit hours should be acquired prior to the expiration date of each certification exam. Please note, the number of recertification credits is based off a 2-year period and can only be used to renew one certification exam within a 4-year timeframe.  
 

What can I do if I have multiple certification exams that I want to recertify?  
Each recertification requires a total of 80 credits. Those looking to recertify more than one exam (example Identity Security Engineer & Identity Security Administrator) will be required to obtain an additional 40 credits prior to the expiration of that certification exam, as well as paying an additional $200 recertification fee.  
 

What qualifies as project hours?  
Project hours are the time you spend actively working on a SailPoint technical project or solution. This includes hands-on work that supports planning, building, configuring, testing, deploying, or improving a solution in a real SailPoint environment. 
 
Project hours include (but are not limited to) outcome-driven work such as: 

• Designing or planning a solution 
• Implementing or configuring a solution 
• Developing integrations, scripts, or custom workflows 
• Testing, troubleshooting, and validating functionality 
• Deploying a solution or supporting go-live activities 
• Optimizing or remediating an existing solution 
• Project-specific documentation, research, meetings, and communications that directly support delivery 
   

How can I find my current recertification status?  
While we’ll be keeping track of all of your qualifying activities, you’re welcome to log your activities for your own record using this tracker. Curious to know your recertification status, you can email our team at training-help@sailpoint.com where our team would be happy to provide you with your status towards recertification. 

How do I submit my project hours to SailPoint? 
We kindly ask that you submit all project hours to our team here. Please ensure you fill out all information on the form and select the SailPoint Certification Program as the request type and the project hours as the certification program request type. The form will populate required fields including the contact information of the manager or customer for whom you worked on the project with/for.  

How do you validate project hours? 
The Identity University team personally reviews, tracks, and verifies all project hours submitted. You will not receive an immediate response upon submitting your project hours. If there are any questions regarding your submission, the Identity University team will reach out to you for further information.
