How do I use strong authentication when signing in to IdentityNow?

Strong authentication, also known as strong auth, is an added layer of security that protects your account information. For resetting your IdentityNow password or changing your preferences, strong auth is always required. For other situations, strong auth is set up by your company's admin to provide an additional layer of protection for specific apps or actions.

In some cases, your administrator might have configured your system to require you to use strong authentication when you sign in to IdentityNow.

Complete the following steps:

1. On the IdentityNow sign in page, enter your user name and password and click Sign In.

2. Carefully read the strong authentication prompt. The options that display depend on the options that your administrator has configured.

  • If you have never signed in to IdentityNow before, you will not see any options that require you to configure information within IdentityNow. Instead, you might see work phone or work email options.
  • The phone and email options available to you depend on whether you have the applicable values defined in the Preferences page.
  • You must use an existing Duo Passcode if you select that option. In other words, you can't request new Duo Passcodes from this screen.

3. Select your preferred strong authentication method and complete the process.
