Excited to Begin My Journey in Identity Governance and Administration!

Hello Everyone,

My name is Md Sajid Irfan. I’m thrilled to join this forum and be part of such an incredible community of identity security professionals!

I’ve recently embarked on my professional journey as an Associate in the Identity Governance and Administration (IGA) team. As a fresher in the workforce, I’m diving headfirst into the fascinating world of identity security. It’s been an exciting experience so far, learning about the critical role identity governance plays in ensuring security and compliance in today’s digital landscape.

I’m eager to expand my knowledge, gain hands-on experience, and contribute meaningfully to my team’s efforts. I look forward to connecting with all of you, learning from your expertise, and sharing my progress along the way.

If you have any tips, resources, or advice for someone just starting out in this field, I’d love to hear them!

Thank you, and I’m excited to be part of this journey with you all!

@SAJID_0118 Md Sajid, welcome! Great to see you here, and it sounds like you're in the right place - we have an exciting set of training paths to help guide you on your way to becoming a thought leader in Identity Security!

I'm Paul Patti, one of several SailPoint Technical Advocates who teaches instructor-led training, develops and hosts technical webinars, and helps contribute to content development and certification exam preparation sessions.

The first thing you'll probably want to do, if you haven't already, is enroll in SailPoint's free Identity Security Leader (ISL) training path. These seven free courses will introduce you to the main concepts in the field, many of which you may already be familiar. There's also a free exam covering the content, and upon passing you will have earned your SailPoint Identity Security Leader credential and be able to display your ISL badge on your email signature, LinkedIn profile, and other social media.

After that, I'd recommend following the Identity Security Administrator (ISA) training path - that will show you how to set up and administer SailPoint's Identity Security Cloud (ISC) SaaS solution and manage its day-to-day operations to facilitate governance and help protect your organization from identity and access threats.

Completing all the items in that path will unlock the SailPoint Identity Security Professional Credential exam. This is a multiple choice, non-proctored exam, and serves as the final exam for the courses in the ISA training path.

Currently there is no ISA certification - yet if there were, it would include best practice and situational scenarios from field "on-the-job" experience. That is the main difference between a learning credential and a certification.

After earning your ISA credential, you'll probably want to continue with the SailPoint Identity Security Engineer training path. This will provide you with a deeper level of knowledge that will help you tackle more detailed and involved Identity and Access Management (IAM) & Identity Governance Administration (IGA) challenges - such as those involving coding in Java Script Object Notation (JSON), Jayway JSONpath, and Apache Velocity Template Language (VTL). This, along with automation, AI, and integration with other systems - will help facilitate your providing advanced, comprehensive, and effective cybersecurity solutions. And whenever you may have questions along the way, please don't hesitate to ask.

Congratulations on your new role, and I'm looking forward to hearing about your progress & future successes, Md Sajid!
